A Passion for the Himalayas, Delivered as Hospitality
Yatra Masti was founded in 2018 with a single, clear vision: to provide discerning travellers with access to the most extraordinary Himalayan locations through properties that combine premium comfort with authentic local character. The chain began with the acquisition and restoration of Royal Heritage in Nainital — a 1906 colonial hotel whose bones were sound but whose potential was unrealised.
The careful restoration of Royal Heritage, which took 18 months and involved sourcing period furniture, original fixtures, and heritage craftspeople who could repair the original pressed-tin ceilings and oak floors, established the template for everything Yatra Masti would do: deep respect for heritage, authentic local materials, exceptional guest experiences, and genuinely warm Kumaoni hospitality.
From that foundation, Yatra Masti has grown systematically — adding properties only when the right combination of extraordinary location and property quality was found. Today, with 10 properties across Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, the portfolio spans jungle eco-resorts, mountain retreats, colonial heritage hotels, contemporary urban hotels, and a unique 1920s castle in McLeodganj.
The company is a proud member of UTRA (Uttarakhand Tourism & Recreation Association) and maintains long-standing relationships with local farming communities, tribal cultural groups, wildlife conservancies, and forest departments — ensuring that Yatra Masti' presence in each destination creates genuine economic and environmental value for local communities.
